One MOMENT can CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

One moment I was carefree, working too much, attending too many happy hours that moved from 1 hour to too many to count. Within one moment, I became a mom. The phone rang and my life was never the same.

  • Infant boy – 36 hours old

  • African American

  • Cocaine

We had been licensed for 3 days - on someone’s list for ONLY 3 days. We said we’d take any gender, any race, any diagnoses, ages 0-4. There is no way to prepare for a baby ages 0-4. We had nothing. I had to borrow a car seat from the county to transport my little guy home. The next moment I called my mom, sister, grandma, and aunt. We needed everything – blankets, bottles, diapers, clothes – EVERYTHING!

I remember very few things over those first few weeks. One moment I was a carefree young adult and the next I was the only thing keeping this drug addicted precious little boy alive. My days consisted of county appointments, doctor appointments, and bio family visits. One moment can change your life!
